Dr. David Bak
Dr. Bak was born and raised in Niagara. He lived most of his life in St. Catharines, ON prior to attending the University of Western Ontario for his undergraduate degree, medical school and residency training. He has completed his training in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine from the College of Family Physicians. After completion, he worked in the Emergency Room at Cambridge before moving back to Niagara where he was on staff for many years at the Welland Hospital Site of the Niagara Health System.
Both he and his wife are proud parents of 4 children and enjoy living in the Niagara Region. Dr. Bak is extremely proud to be involved with SelectMD Urgent Care Health and Wellness Centre to provide the patients in Welland and the surrounding communities with a valuable health care service.
Dr. Kevin Grant
Growing up in the Niagara Region, Dr. Grant completed an undergraduate biology degree at Brock University before completing his degree in medicine from the University of Western Ontario in 1991. Post-graduate training in British Columbia and further work in family and emergency followed this before returning in 1995 to pursue a career in full-time emergency medicine initially at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in St. Catharines. He then worked at both the St. Catharines General Hospital and Welland Hospital sites of the Niagara Health System and continues to work currently at the Welland Hospital Site. He has received certification in both Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
An active father of two boys, Dr. Grant and his wife enjoy living in the Niagara Region along with their families. As a cofounder of SelectMD, Dr. Grant is excited to pursue his career in primary care for the residents of Niagara.
Dr. Colin Zides:
Born in Saint John New Brunswick and raised in Ottawa, Dr. Colin Zides obtained his Bachelor of Science at McGill University in Montreal and completed his medical degree and training at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1992.
After graduation, Dr. Zides moved to Niagara and practiced Emergency Medicine at the Welland Hospital Site of the Niagara Health System. During this time, he held various administrative positions including Chief of the Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Zides was Vice-Chair Section of Emergency Medicine for the Ontario Medical Association where he was active in advocacy for Emergency Care in Ontario.
Married with two children, he and his family have established firm ties to the community. His hobbies include computer and technology, photography and coaching minor hockey. Dr. Zides is pleased to be a co-founder and owner of SelectMD Urgent Care Health and Wellness Centre. He looks forward to continuing to provide primary care health services to the residents of Niagara.
Andrea, Executive Administrator:
Andrea is a Registered Nurse who graduated from Niagara College Canada and later from the University of Western Sydney, Australia. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator and a Certified Diabetes Pump Trainer. She has also achieved additional certification in Advanced Cardiac Rescue, Cardiology, Smoking Cessation, Child Abuse, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Infection Control and Emergency Services and Triage.
After graduation, Andrea held staff and management Nursing positions in Buffalo, N.Y., as well as Emergency Department Nursing in USA and Ontario. Andrea was an Instructor at Niagara College Canada in the classroom and clinically in the hospital. She has also worked as a Nurse Consultant for over a decade.
Together with her husband, Andrea raises her two wonderful children. She is an avid hockey fan with interests in travel and cuisine. She is very proud to be the administrator of SelectMD Urgent Care and to promote health and wellness in Niagara.
Cathy, Medical Receptionist:
Cathy comes to SelectMD Urgent Care Clinic with twenty years of health and wellness experience. She grew up in Fonthill, ON and later moved to St. Catharines, ON with her husband and three children.
As a graduate of Niagara College with a Medical Records Technician degree, she has worked in various clinics in the region including Niagara Regional Home Care and a Chiropractic, Rehabilitation and Wellness Centre.
Cathy’s commitment to health and wellness is a lifestyle choice for her and her family and she believes in achieving and maintaining optimal health. Cathy is efficient, reliable and a professional in her field. In her free time, Cathy enjoys running, mountain biking and spending time with her family.
Tara, Medical Receptionist:
Tara is a dedicated and hard working individual who brings with her extensive medical office experience.
Born in Trail, B.C., Tara grew up in North Bay and also lived in Timmins for 8 years. She completed the Office Administration program from Northern College. Tara worked within a medical office upon completion of her studies and gained valuable experience there.
Tara is married and proudly raises her four children with her husband. A dedicated mother and medical receptionist, she is proud to assist the needs of our patients. She is a fantastic listener whose patience is an asset to our patients!
Brenda, Medical Receptionist:
Brenda grew up in a small town in Western Canada. She comes from a large family of 14 children. She is the proud mother of one daughter.
She began her career within the hospitality industry where she grew into management roles at various restaurants and stores. Brenda has found home in many locations including Germany, Texas, Alaska and three Canadian provinces.
Brenda successfully completed Certified Medical Assistant and Medical Office Administration programs and has held positions in various Medical facilities. Brenda’s experience and dedication is an asset which proudly serves the health care needs of our SelectMD patients.
